Our Mechanical Technical Apprenticeships offer an exciting opportunity to work within SSE Thermal as we seek to become the leading provider of flexible thermal energy in a net zero world. Transforming high-carbon generation assets to low-carbon whilst ensuring a Just Transition for our people. What to Expect: Gas Storage - Atwick has capacity to store around 309 million cubic meters of gas. The facility entered operation in 1979. Aldbrough has the capacity to store around273million cubic metres of gas. Commercially available in 2009, with plans to develop one of the world's largest hydrogen storage facilities. Keadby - Home of two CCGT power stations. Keadby 1 entered operation in 1996 whilst Keadby 2, the worlds most efficient plant of its type entered commercial operation in 2023. Plans to further develop the site include Keadby 3, a carbon capture power station and Keadby Next Generation which could be one of the worlds first hydrogen-fired power stations Qualifications: Our Technical Apprenticeship Programme is a structured four-year journey designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience needed to become a qualified Technician. You will gain the following qualification Keadby and Gas Storage - MOET qualification(Maintenance & Operations Engineering Technician) whilst attending a local college Hands On Experience: As a Technical Apprentice, you'll be part of an expert team. You'll gain invaluable problem-solving skills and develop the technical expertise needed to become a qualified Technician. On the Job Training: Alongside attending college you'll undertake hands-on work-based learning, where you'll apply your academic knowledge in real-world settings. Working alongside experienced professionals, you'll develop key technical skills, tackle practical challenges, and gain invaluable industry experience. Future Career: By the end of the programme, you'll have developed the expertise and confidence to take the next step in your career as a qualified Technician. Flexibility: You'll be site-based.
