Job Advert Role Description
Are you a passionate and experienced clinical leader ready to take on a strategic role in neurobehavioral rehabilitation? Burton Park, a 50-bed neurobehavioral locked rehabilitation hospital for patients with acquired brain injuries and neuro-progressive conditions, is looking for a visionary Director of Clinical Services (DoCS) to join our senior management team and drive clinical excellence.
The Role: Director of Clinical Services
As the Director of Clinical Services, you will play a key role in developing and executing the hospital's strategic vision, ensuring clinical operations run smoothly, and maintaining the highest levels of patient care. Reporting to the Hospital Director, you will be responsible for overseeing all clinical departments (nursing and therapy) and ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, quality standards, and best practices.
You will provide clinical and operational leadership, managing staffing, budgets, and clinical governance. Additionally, you will work to create a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment that supports both staff development and patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership & Strategy: Provide operational and clinical leadership, supporting the hospital’s strategic goals and ensuring the delivery of patient-centred care.
2. Governance & Compliance: Ensure all clinical departments adhere to statutory regulations, current legislation, and quality standards. Take ownership of clinical governance processes and ensure clinical interventions meet best practice guidelines.
3. Staffing & Budget Management: Oversee clinical staffing levels, ensuring safe staffing models are maintained. Manage clinical department budgets and resources efficiently, driving performance while maintaining high standards of care.
4. Clinical Oversight: Implement effective clinical interventions, ensuring treatment plans are aligned with best practices and designed to enhance patient outcomes. Provide daily oversight of staffing models, working with Ward Managers to ensure rosters are set at least 12 weeks in advance.
5. Multidisciplinary Teamwork: Promote a strong working relationship across the multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive, integrated care for patients.
6. Development & Training: Support staff development by ensuring access to CPD opportunities, clinical supervision, and management supervision. Lead initiatives to improve clinical practice and quality standards through training, coaching, and development programmes.
7. Recruitment & Retention: Lead recruitment processes and develop retention strategies to build and maintain a motivated and skilled workforce. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and engagement.
8. Higher Education Partnerships: Manage relationships with Higher Education Institutes to support placements and training for clinical learners, ensuring that students receive high-quality learning experiences.
9. Talent Mapping & Succession Planning: Ensure robust career pathways are in place for clinical staff, with a focus on talent development and succession planning.
10. On-Call Leadership: As part of the Senior Management Team, participate in on-call duties as directed by the Hospital Director to ensure continuous leadership across the hospital.
11. Policy Development: Contribute to the development of Priory policies, procedures, and processes, helping to shape initiatives that enhance care quality across the organisation.
Requirements:
12. Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, with a proven track record in clinical leadership roles.
13. Strong background in managing clinical services in a healthcare setting, ideally within neurobehavioral rehabilitation.
14. Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
15. Experience in clinical governance, budget management, and operational oversight.
16. Ability to foster a collaborative environment and support staff development.
Why Join Us?
