BDS are recruiting for an experienced Housing Support Worker to work with a social justice charity based in the Luton, Watford and Bedford area. You will be overseeing around 3/4 properties, housing around 10 clients in total. The clients you will be supporting are either on bail, HDC or on license. This position involves working 40 hours a week, with 35 hours paid and 5 hours unpaid for lunch. There may be occasional Saturday work with Monday off, and shifts will be scheduled as either 8am-4pm or 2pm-10pm, with home working between service visits.
About the Role
To provide housing related support to vulnerable individuals, together with housing and property management, with the aim of achieving a successful move-on and other measurable outcomes, including supporting service users to achieve independence.
1. Plan effective Support and Safety Plans for each service user that are person-centered and encompass individual support needs.
2. Deliver a minimum of two hours of support to service users weekly and update all support plans accordingly.
3. Empower and motivate service users to identify and achieve desired outcomes.
4. Actively engage with service users in decisions that affect them.
5. Update Resident Record Database – all support and service user contact must be recorded, reviewed, and updated regularly in line with contract requirements.
6. Identify, report, and manage all incidents of anti-social behavior by any service user and record appropriately on the database provided.
7. Visit allocated properties weekly to ensure that repairs are reported and followed up, cleaning is being undertaken, equipment is present, furnishings are in a good state of order, and exterior areas are being maintained. All properties must be maintained to Decent Homes Standards.
8. Develop effective move-on plans with service users at the earliest opportunity, identifying realistic options for independent or more appropriate housing, making use of discretionary funding available to all.
9. Support service users to undertake domestic tasks wherever possible, including practical assistance where they have not yet developed the skills.
10. Engage with colleagues from The Probation Service to deliver a coordinated and joined-up approach to support for our service users.
11. Maximize Rental Income by ensuring the completion and submission of all HB appropriate paperwork.
About You
You will need a full UK licence and a car with the correct level of business insurance. You will also need to have an adult enhanced DBS either less than 8 months old or registered on the update service. Experience in a similar role is essential.
Pay is £14.13 per hour PAYE or £18.46 per hour UMB. A full job specification is available on request.
