Mechanical Engineer

LPE is currently recruiting an AM Applications Engineer to join their team. The successful candidate will be recently qualified and will work within a team of Additive Manufacturing experts reporting to the Engineering Director.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Programming/preparing customer 3D models for 3D Printing.
2. Reviewing customer files for technical feasibility and making recommendations to customers to ensure parts are optimized for 3D printing processes. Supporting the sales team during technical discussions.
3. Problem-solving engineering challenges unique to the 3D Printing processes.
4. Help optimize the 3D Printing processes to reduce manufacturing times and improve quality.
5. Assisting with the technical review of quotations.
6. Adherence to company quality systems IS9001/ISO13485/AS9100. Working with the quality manager to help with the implementation of process improvements and to resolve non-conformances.
7. Assisting with internal and external R&D projects.
8. Assisting with internal and external testing requirements including mechanical, chemical, and physical inspection.
9. Carrying out internal calibration and organizing calibration and maintenance with OEMs.
Essential Requirements
1. BSc Eng. (2:1) Minimum in a related discipline ideally with 1 year of experience or HND Engineering with 3 years of experience.
2. Good communication skills, both written and verbal, and fluent in English.
3. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
4. Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
5. Ability to multitask and prioritize.
6. A passion for finding solutions to technically challenging problems.
Desirable
1. Strong understanding of plastic and metal material requirements. Metallurgy experience would be considered particularly advantageous.
2. Experience in 3D CAD package or CNC CAM package.
3. Prior reverse engineering experience.
4. Experience in mechanical testing.
