Job overview
Our Procurement team plays a crucial role in the smooth running of our hospitals and services. They are responsible for procuring a wide range of goods and services from basic medical supplies like bandages and beds to innovative technology and multi-million-pound equipment. It’s their job to source, buy, and manage the huge number of products, goods, suppliers, and services that allow our staff and services to give the best possible care to our patients.
Our highly experienced team work with a wide range of staff, partners, contractors, and suppliers across both our own hospitals and services, as well as those across Sheffield Children’s Hospital and NHS services across the South Yorkshire region, to secure what they need and make sure we spend money efficiently.
Main duties of the job
As a Procurement Assistant you will provide procurement, contracting and financial advice and support to Trust staff and departments and our NHS partners. Working with staff, suppliers and contractors to source quotes, products, goods, services and tenders at competitive prices and ensuring the Trust and our partners follow procurement policies, regulations, and best practice, to deliver savings and value for money.
The successful candidate will need to have GCSE grade C/4 or equivalent in both Maths and English and have some previous admin or office experience. You’ll also need great communication and people skills to work with our various staff and customers, excellent attention to detail, and be able to solve problems and work flexibly across different projects and timescales.

As part of our commitment, you will have the opportunity to divide your workweek between our main base at Northern General Hospital and various other sites, while also having the flexibility to work remotely from the comfort of your own home. Currently there is a minimum requirement for 1 office day per week, subject to change to meet business needs.

Education and Qualifications
* GCSE Maths & English, grade C/4 or above (or equivalent)
* Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Level 3 Certification or relevant experience
* Willing to study for Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Level 4 Diploma
Experience
* Previous experience in working in an office environment.
* Previous experience in dealing with telephone and email queries
* Previous experience in working in the NHS
* Previous experience in a computer based finance package (Procurement Function)
