This is an opportunity to join the Radiotherapy Physics team, who provide clinical scientific and physics services to the Department of Radiotherapy and Oncology. The Department has a Managed Services Contract with Ergéa to provide a comprehensive radiotherapy service to the people of Norfolk. The radiotherapy equipment consists of five Varian TrueBeams, 2 CT-simulators, Eclipse treatment planning system, orthovoltage unit and Bravos High dose-rate brachytherapy afterloading machine. The Department is fully electronically networked and largely paper-free. The department has also recently installed SGRT (VisionRT) across all linacs and CT.
The postholder will be expected to work shifts as part of an extended day working arrangement. Some weekend working may be required.
Radiotherapy Department at the NNUH. They will take particular clinical responsibility for the development of treatment planning for External Beam and Brachytherapy, supporting the Lead Clinical Scientists for Treatment Planning and Brachytherapy.
They will take the lead in the development of External Beam and Brachytherapy Planning, in terms of the use of scripting, reporting and advanced techniques to streamline processes, such as plan checking, and improve patient treatment. They will also take the lead for the Physics support for skin planning (Electron & kV).

1. To provide scientific support and advice relating to all areas of the Radiotherapy Physics service.
2. To participate in the Duty Physicist, Duty Treatment Planning and brachytherapy rotas, with a key focus on planning and brachytherapy.
3. To take the lead in the Physics support provided to the Radiotherapy Physics service for Skin Planning (Electron and kV).
4. To carry out regular quality assurance measurements for all equipment in Radiotherapy including High Energy Linear Accelerators, HDR Brachytherapy equipment, Xstrahl superficial unit, RT CT scanners, and Eclipse Treatment Planning System and to provide highly specialised advice regarding the adjustment of parameters to improve the dose output of the units.
5. To oversee regular QA on the treatment planning systems, ensuring consistency of data performance and investigating any discrepancies.
