Our exciting, privately owned client is currently seeking a Specification Technologist to join the team in Coleshill on a FTC basis for 10 months, 5 days per week in the office.
You will serve as a key point of contact between internal and external teams, including effective collaboration on all aspects of product specifications. The role involves managing product data, maintaining compliance and regulation, food safety and quality, and then addressing this with suppliers and other stakeholders. You will also need to liaise with the warehouse to align storage and handling needs.
Responsibilities:
1. Update detailed product Specifications, whilst ensuring these are supported by validated claims (nutritional, health, allergen etc).
2. Manage internal specification databases.
3. Validate product labels.
4. Stay up to date with EU & UK food legislation.
5. Liaise with suppliers to ensure quality and safety.
6. Flag audit requirements.
7. Provide technical support to customers (allergen info etc).
What we are looking for:
1. Degree in Food Science, Food Technology or related field.
2. Minimum of 2 years in a Specification Technologist role within Food Manufacturing.
3. HACCP Level 2 is desirable.
4. Strong knowledge of food composition, basic nutrition and allergen management.
5. Strong knowledge of food safety standards and regulations.
