Senior Production & Logistics Planner (Mat Cover)
* Location: Northfleet, Kent, United Kingdom
Prepworld are looking for a Senior Production & Logistics Planner on Maternity cover contract (until October 2025) - responsible for ensuring that the production and logistics team are conducting all appropriate activities to the required standard on a daily basis. These include producing the daily production plans, the daily plan for all outgoing finished product, and all associated paperwork.
The Senior Production & Logistics Planner is also responsible for ensuring that all of the required production planning activities are completed on a daily basis.
Ensuring all relevant planning, logistics and administration activities are completed on a daily basis. This includes playing an active part in carrying out these activities:
* Producing all daily production plans accurately and on time – volumes, run rates, WIP etc. – and providing to the Production team
* Producing daily outloading logistics accurately and on time – customer depot orders, pick sheets, ASNs and load manifests, and distributing to Dispatch
* Booking of vehicles through online portals and producing load plans and delivery notes
* Ensuring any shortages are communicated to the wider business appropriately
* Ensuring maximum utilisation of fruit within Production
* Sending weekly and daily staff requests to agencies as required
* Authorising transport invoices
* Keeping planning errors to a minimum
* Planning and prioritising daily operations to ensure maximum performance and minimum delay
* Determining manpower, equipment and raw materials needed to cover production demand
* Addressing issues when they arise aiming for minimum disruption
* Obtaining, collating and communicating output information (service level, staff numbers, waste, overpacks, WIP adherence etc.)
* Liaising with 3rd party haulage companies regarding collection times and traffic issues to ensure 100% service level is achieved
* Completing Customer Issue Log
* Training Planning and Logistics Administrators to conduct all activities to the required standard
* Compiling weekly data to support Sales Admin investigations of overs/shorts etc.
* Maintaining records and archives to support audits
* Attending daily Production meetings – shift handover, 9am, Midday huddle
* Completing dispatched pallet and dolly spreadsheets
* Completing all Production administration tasks as required – agency trackers, production handovers, rotas etc.
* Deputising for the Production Planning and Logistics Manager as required, e.g. meeting attendance
Overseeing the team:
* Ensuring all direct reports take ownership of H&S, Food Safety, People and performance KPI’s
* Driving absolute commitment through a focus on PrepWorld’s Ways of Working
* Ensuring all departmental team members are inducted, trained and understand their roles and responsibilities
* Providing ongoing training and support to other team members, especially new starters, to ensure all team members can complete all duties
Who we are looking for:
* Previous experience in a planning / Logistics role (Highly desirable / Essential)
* Previous experience in a manufacturing environment (Essential)
* Previous experience supervising a team (Essential)
* Continuous improvement mindset, daily search for ways to improve performance and efficiency (Essential)
* Good communication skills in English (written, spoken and listening) (Essential)
* Teamwork, able to work and liaise with others to ensure team goals are successfully achieved (Essential)
* Good numerical skills (Essential)
* Good IT and database/system skills (Essential)
* First Aid Certificate & Fire Marshall trained (Desirable)
This is a maternity cover contract, until October 2025
Days of work: Sunday to Wednesday (4 day working week)
Hours of work: The hours of work are a mix of 05.30am - 17.30pm and 07.30am - 19.30pm week by week, 1 hour unpaid break each day, totaling 44hrs per week
