This role of Business Development Manager in the CDO team is centered upon winning Mid-Market prospects that consist of well-known household brands and FMCG manufacturers. This will be a mix of companies that currently work with our competitors as well as those who are not yet purchasing data.
You will have an opportunity to make the role truly your own and will have full ownership of the entire sales cycle from lead generation, to sales & marketing tactics, and, most importantly, closing those opportunities.
You will report directly to the Head of Mid-Market and will work closely with our operational, client service and business impact teams to help scope out, customise, and deliver solutions to your clients. This will require excellent communication and interpersonal skills as you will need to successfully interact with and influence stakeholders across all areas of our business, both in the UK and worldwide.
This role is perfect for you if you have experience in complex SaaS sales, thrive in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment, and have a real hunger for chasing new business opportunities rather than nurturing existing accounts.
Circana operates on a hybrid working arrangement, coming into the office by choice or when the team gets together for collaborative work. Occasional office attendance (1-2 times per month) at our bright, modern offices in Bracknell (Maxis) and potential visits to client sites will be required.
Main Responsibilities:
* A quick learner with a growth mindset and passionate about investing in your own personal and career development.
* Comfortable with managing mid to long-term win strategies and planning your pipeline from 6 to 12 months in advance.
* Proactive at opening doors, making new contacts, and building a strong network across category insights, marketing, sales, and the Exec functions within your prospects’ organisations.
* Planning and executing tactical as well as strategic sales campaigns to hit and exceed annual revenue and positive WLSE growth targets.
* Using consultative selling techniques to uncover and qualify opportunities by identifying your customer’s needs, timescales, budget and decision-making process.
* Effectively educating prospects about the power of EPOS, shopper insights and analytics; how Circana’s solutions can help grow their business.
* Positive, resilient, and lead by example, whether it’s helping improve our sales process or supporting fellow team members.
Skills and Experience:
This is a role which requires initiative. It will be very varied and very rewarding for the right person. The role demands drive and focus from a person who really wants to engage with clients every day.
* Proven experience in a new business/business development role, motivated by hitting targets and driving commercial growth OR experience in a similar field with demonstrable commercial experience.
* Able to demonstrate commercial acumen with an understanding of direct P&L implications.
* Excellent planning and organisation.
* Highly self-motivated and assured at presenting to all levels.
* Strong relationship builder, both internal and external.
* Understanding of a ‘consultative selling approach’ with proven questioning and listening skills.
* Confident working with data with a good working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.
* A working knowledge of Market tracking and Insights within FMCG would be beneficial.
* Previous experience in IT Solutions Sales would be beneficial.
