BHSF is currently looking for an individual to be part of the Occupational Health Clinical team, providing a service of excellence on behalf of BHSF Occupational Health and working with customer businesses to promote the health, safety, and well-being of their employees through the provision of clinical services within the private and public sectors. The Occupational Health Technician will need to work on a customer site in Huddersfield.
Key Responsibilities
* Provision of specialist technician skills helping maintain the high standard of service we aim to provide.
* Excellent communications skills promoting good liaison at all times with both management and employees and colleagues within the OH team.
* To keep abreast of changing legislation, clinical practice and managerial styles that may have an effect on the role of the Occupational Health Technician.
* Under the guidance of your line manager to be responsible for own professional development, in particular the learning associated with your OH Technician course.
* Provision of IT skills and maintenance of records and record-keeping in line with legal and professional controls.
* Recording and reporting accurate health & safety outcome data to create statistical reports and supply management information.
* Basic understanding of and responsibility for the principles of infection control.
* Ensure that clinical equipment is maintained and calibrated on a planned basis.
* Ensure that stocks and supplies are monitored and maintained.
* Participate in clinical audits and / or research projects as appropriate.
* Maintain confidentiality at all times.
* To maintain courtesy, professionalism, and high standards of presentation in all communications with customers and potential customers.
* To perform all tasks and duties when required providing flexibility and covering a team working environment.
* All employees are responsible for ensuring the protection of personal data, as such you are required to actively engage with all requests relating to data protection and proactively ensure compliance with GDPR and the DPA when handling any personal, special category or criminal conviction data. You must report data incidents in-line with Company Policy.
* Operates within defined risk appetite levels, and within the context of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF), Risk Strategy, and all associated policies.
* Ensure compliance with the company health and safety rules and requirements, ensuring own safety and that of colleagues at all times; raising risks identified immediately and following all health and safety instructions.
* At all times, ensure that customers are put first in everything we do, following all policies and procedures, especially those relating to The Consumer Duty.
Key Tasks
Clinical
* To be responsible for carrying out a full range of nurse activities including:
* Health Screening and Surveillance to include audiometry, spirometry, vision screening, skin surveillance, urine screening, height, weight and BMI.
* With additional training/qualification to include: HAVs, vaccinations, venepuncture, ECG, Drug & Alcohol screening, blood, capillary and glucose testing.
* Workplace Assessments including Display Screen Equipment and Manual Handling (with additional training).
* Health Promotion Programmes.
* Maintaining systematic, secure and confidential OH records and adhering to the BHSF and NMC confidentiality policy and procedure.
* Managerial
* To organise and control own workload as required.
* To report in a timely manner to other OH clinicians with regard to adverse health surveillance outcomes.
* To attend relevant meetings providing Occupational Health Technician input as required.
* To feedback general and specific information regarding the client contract to the Clinical Lead as appropriate.
* To produce any relevant reports regarding the client contract generally and/or Occupational Health issues.
Working conditions:
* Customer site and BHSF OH clinical locations.
* Occasional home working.
* 37.5 hour per week.
* Dependent on contract there can be poor working conditions.
* A 60-minute journey each way is expected but you may be asked on occasion to travel beyond this up to 90 minutes but we will consult with you beforehand.
Qualifications:
Audiometry and spirometry qualification.
Knowledge and Experience:
* Experience in an OHT role.
Skills and Personal Qualities:
* Able to think outside the box. Ability to go forward for training in other aspects of the role.
* Willingness to work outside of office hours.
* Willingness to work away from home on occasions.

Salary: £22,000 - £29,000
