DCMS has a hub and spoke model with a Central Analysis Team (CAT) and Sector Analysis Teams (SAT), which are embedded within embedded within five policy directorates. This role is in Creative and Cultural Industries Analysis spoke, which is part of the Culture and Creative Industries policy directorate.
The role focused on the Creative and Cultural Futures (CCF) team within the CCI directorate. CCF works on a number of priority projects within the CCI directorate. These include:
* The Independent Review of the Arts Council. The review will be led by Baroness Margaret Hodge and will explore how ACE operates as an organisation. The review aims to ensure that Arts Council England is best positioned to successfully steward our cultural and creative sectors in every part of England.
* Place-based investment in culture. The team also works on designing departmental programs that deliver funding for projects that increase engagement in culture at a local level.
The Creative and Cultural futures team is looking for an enthusiastic social researcher to support the Independent Review of the Arts Council England (ACE). Some of your responsibilities will include:
* Working with the Baroness Hodge and policy officials in the ACE Review team to develop a framework for assessing evidence gathered as part of the review, ensuring different sources of information are prioritised in a systematic way.
* Conducting analysis of evidence collected during the review, this will consist of interview recordings, academic papers, grey literature and survey data.
* Working with central analysis and data science teams to pilot AI tools for analysing open text responses in responses to the surveys distributed as part of the review.
* Providing strategic direction on the policy area’s analysis, to ensure effective delivery against the longer-term departmental and ministerial objectives
* Working on other key priorities including:
○ Conducting spatial analysis of cultural participation to support investment in specific areas of low cultural engagement.
○ Supporting in the development of the evaluation of new programs delivered by the CCI directorate.
