The Role:
Based in the community in Launceston, you will be joining a friendly and motivated multidisciplinary team including a small core team of specialists, registrars, nursing and allied health staff. We provide palliative care services across Northern Tasmania extending from the Meander Valley, to the Bass Strait and the Bay of Fires and to historic central Tasmania.
The role provides a variety of practice, incorporating community, inpatient and acute setting care. The service is accredited for Clinical Foundation of Palliative Medicine and has all three RACP Chapter Palliative Medicine Advanced Trainee terms accredited.
The successful applicant will enjoy opportunities to contribute to education in partnership with Uni. Tasmania, as well as research opportunities through the Clifford Craig Foundation, established to support medical research in the Northern region of Tasmania.
We are a progressive team, with a strong focus on quality improvement initiatives, novel therapeutics and programs which improve access to specialist and generalist palliative care for people in our catchment. Current projects include specialist palliative care in aged care facilities across our region and a Northern Palliative Care ECHO program with rural and remote GPs, and a seven-day week specialist nursing service.
We aim to:
* Provide the highest possible standard of specialist palliative care medical services, consultancy and advice to patients and families.
* Facilitate the development and delivery of best practice specialist palliative care medical services in Tasmania.
* Provide teaching in palliative care for undergraduate and postgraduate students, general practitioners and primary and specialist health professionals.
* Promote and participate in palliative care research, audits and evaluation to improve evidence-based practice.
* Work collaboratively with primary health service providers and specialist health service providers across the range of settings for effective continuity of care.
Details of appointment:
Permanent part-time day worker with on-call position, working up to 60.8 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
Salary:
Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $216,300 - $310,389 per annum, pro rata + 11.5% superannuation + access to salary packaging.
Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $300,216 - $310,389 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award.
In addition, the following allowances and benefits, calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
* Salary packaging options include a range of benefits like living expenses up to $9,010 and $2,650 in meals and entertainment every year.
* Motor vehicle allowance of $28,389 per annum, pro rata.
* Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,480 per annum, pro rata.
Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria as:
* Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty.
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
* Fellow with the Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine (AChPM) or an Specialist Medical Practitioner with extensive experience in Palliative medicine.
