Interview: week commencing: 12th May 2025 The School Northcott is a Specialist School for up to 200 pupils aged 3-19, whose primary learning difficulty is Autism and Speech Language Communication Needs. Northcott is an Outstanding provision for pupils with additional needs including Autism, SLCN, MLD and SPLD. We require a Safeguarding Officer to work directly under the leadership of our Deputy Head and Designated Lead for Safeguarding. The right candidate will need to have experience, knowledge and skills that will enable them to advocate on behalf of children first and foremost, promoting a culture of vigilance and collective responsibility. The successful applicant will need to have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to build trusted relationships with pupils and staff. Our school continues to grow and we need to continue to address the increasingly complex needs of our young people and their families. The majority of our pupils have a diagnosis of autism or needs around speech language and communication. Whilst it is not essential that the successful candidate has experience of autism it will be beneficial for candidates to be able to demonstrate an understanding of the complexities arising from ASD and the need to advocate skilfully on behalf of pupils who have SLCN needs. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working closely with pupils and their families from either mainstream or specialist environment.
