About the Role:
We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Teacher of English to join a vibrant English department located in Luton. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about teaching English, inspiring students to develop their language, literary skills, and critical thinking.
As a Teacher of English, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality lessons to students across Key Stages 3 and 4 (with potential for Key Stage 5), fostering a love for literature, language, and effective communication. You will play a key role in promoting a culture of excellence within the department and contributing to the wider success of the school.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver engaging, innovative, and effective lessons in English to students across Key Stage 3 and 4 (and potentially Key Stage 5).
• Develop and implement a dynamic and inclusive curriculum that meets the diverse needs of students.
• Inspire students to develop a love for literature, language, and creative writing.
• Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback and support to ensure all students reach their full potential.
• Differentiate lessons to ensure all learners, including those with additional needs, are fully engaged and supported.
• Contribute to the development and enhancement of the English department’s curriculum and resources.
• Participate in extra-curricular activities, including English clubs, school events, and literary competitions.
• Build strong relationships with students, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Work closely with colleagues in the English department and across the school to share best practices and contribute to school improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
• A degree in English, English Literature, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent is essential.
• Experience teaching English at secondary school level (Key Stage 3 and 4). Experience with Key Stage 5 is desirable but not essential.
• A passion for teaching and inspiring students in English, with strong subject knowledge.
• Ability to deliver a varied and engaging curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
• Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to creating a positive and supportive learning environment.
• A commitment to your own professional development and growth as an educator.
