Role: Assessor/Trainer of Carpentry

Salary: £25,918 - £39,004 per annum

A highly reputable Sixth Form College in Cambridge is seeking a dedicated and qualified Assessor/Trainer of Carpentry to join the permanent staff team. This role will support the Carpentry curriculum at the Cambridge campus, starting in January 2025 (with an earlier start date highly desirable).
The successful candidate will have the chance to contribute to an environment renowned for educational excellence and innovation, fostering practical skills and industry standards in the next generation of carpentry professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan, deliver, and assess carpentry courses at a high standard, ensuring alignment with curriculum goals and industry expectations.
* Provide tailored training sessions and hands-on instruction, demonstrating best practices in carpentry.
* Assess students’ progress, offering constructive feedback and setting achievable targets to encourage student growth and success.
* Work collaboratively with academic and vocational staff to maintain a cohesive learning experience.
* Ensure that all activities comply with health and safety regulations and college policies.
Requirements:
* Relevant qualification in Carpentry (Level 3 or above).
* Recognized Assessor/Trainer qualifications (such as A1, TAQA, or equivalent).
* Proven experience as a Carpentry Assessor/Trainer in a post-16 or vocational education setting.
* Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage assessment schedules effectively.
* Excellent communication skills, with a patient and encouraging approach to teaching and assessing learners.
* Current knowledge of carpentry industry standards and techniques, with a commitment to continuous professional development.
* A flexible and proactive approach to engaging with students, motivating them to reach their potential.
Desirable Attributes:
* Experience in using digital tools to support learning and assessment.
* Previous experience within a Sixth Form or similar educational setting.
