Here at Liverpool University Hospital [Aintree Site], we have an exciting opportunity for an 18-month fixed term full-time training post in Echocardiography. This is part of the Echocardiography Training Programme developed by the National School of Healthcare Science and funded by Health Education England.
You must be employed in a substantive post within a NHS Cardiac Diagnostics department within the UK.
You must hold an undergraduate honours degree [1st or 2.1 class] in cardiac physiology or a relevant scientific subject.
Please note this position is fixed term for 18 months only.
Main duties of the job
Successful candidates will be trained to BSE accreditation level 2 and will be awarded a Post-graduate Certificate in Clinical Echocardiography.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* You will become proficient in adult echocardiography.
* You will report echocardiograms in line with BSE standards.
* You will successfully complete the PG cert certification in echocardiography.
* You will complete and pass all parts of the BSE level 2 exam within the 18 month period.
Person specification
* Undergraduate honours degree [1st or 2.1 class] in cardiac physiology or a relevant scientific subject.
* Currently employed within Cardiac Diagnostics department within UK.
* Proven/demonstrable ability to analyse and assess scientific, technical and medical literature.
* Has an understanding of the role of an Echocardiographer in healthcare and disease and its application in a healthcare setting.
* Have an understanding of quality control and management assurance in a science or work based context.
* Ability to work autonomously in the planning and execution of their own work and under the guidance of their Departmental Supervisors.
* Knowledge acquired through study and experience to formulate appropriate advice and judgements, including clinical judgements involving facts or situations that impact on patients.
* Good understanding of ethics and professional practice, the NHS constitution and the importance of patient-centred care.
* A committed, in depth interest in Echocardiography and its application to direct clinical care of patients in a clinical environment.
* Ability to use, maintain and troubleshoot scientific equipment.
