Internally your job title will be Direct Services Technician If youre physically fit, versatile, self-motivated and driven, with experience of Fencing, Property Clearance, Garden Clearance, Waste Management, day-to-day repairs or similar technical work, join Southern Housing as a Direct Services Technician. As a part of our Sussex team, based out of Haywood Way in Hastings, you will help Southern Housing maintain our properties, estates and neighbourhoods by completing works including: Fencing Repairs & Installations. Void Property Clearances and Minor Property Repairs. Bulk Waste / Fly-Tip Collection and Disposal. Garden Clearances and some basic Grounds Maintenance. Office Maintenance and Repairs. Garage Inspections, Lock Changes and clearances. Graffiti Removal. Play Area Repairs and Maintenance. You may also be asked to complete inspections and surveys for the above works. What youll need As part of a tight-knit team, you will be required to work closely with others, supporting colleagues both within Direct Services and other teams across the business. You must be customer focused, with great interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly and concisely. You will also need the ability to work alone, be self-motivated and able to solve technical problems as they arise on site.Customer satisfaction is a priority whilst working productively with value for money in mind. Working safely is paramount, and you would be required to complete, understand and follow detailed, written Risk Assessments on a daily basis. A good level of numeracy and literacy would be an advantage, as would experience of using mobile devices.Stock control and the accurate recording of time and costs is an important requirement of the role. Technical skills within the above specified areas of work would be beneficial, but not a necessity as training will be provided. Any additional technical skills that may enable us to expand our services in the future would also be of interest. You will be required to drive a 3.5 tonne tipper and other various, smaller fleet vehicles daily, both safely and legally. The ability to and experience of pulling a small trailer would also be beneficial. You must hold a full UK driving licence with no more than six points and with no serious motoring offences in the last 10 years (i.e., CD, DD, DG, DR, IN, MR, TT). You must also have a minimum of two years driving experience. We will undertake driving licence checks on the successful candidate as part of our standard pre-employment checks process. As well as access to Southern Housing fleet vehicles, you will be provided with pool tools and equipment, plus personal uniform and PPE; all provided for operational use only.
