Capacity & Flow Manager- Emergency Centre

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Emergency Centre as a Capacity & Flow Manager. Working collaboratively with the Matrons, Consultants, operational managers and clinicians to deliver a seamless journey for patients moving through the Medicine and Emergency Department clinical pathways.
We are looking to appoint a highly motivated and dynamic leader with extensive experience delivering in a patient flow role who is optimist and forward thinking to be able to work alone and escalate to the appropriate department or specialty across the organisation, ensuring the patient receives the right care in the right place at the right time.
This role will be integral to the provision of safe, effective flow across the Centre, Division and Trust. The successful candidate will be proactive in seeking ways to develop the service and team and will engage with clinical and operational colleagues across all areas to achieve Centre, Divisional and Trust objectives.
Main duties of the job
Through developing effective links and relationships with relevant professional partners, the post holder will;
- Act as their principal point of contact, to ensure that all flow arrangements are agreed and information flows effectively, providing as seamless a service as possible for patients and their families.
- Assist staff to ensure best practice in planning safe and timely patient discharges in order to achieve best outcomes for patients and to optimise hospital bed utilisation and reduce length of stay .
- Maximise the use of ED cubicles and Acute Medicine inpatient beds, enabling local and national NHS targets to be met using knowledge, skills, experience, influence, negotiation, and advanced communication skills to identify and resolve issues that could impact patient pathways.
* Ensure standardisation of processes and reporting across all discharge areas within Emergency.
- Assess, monitor and report on discharge trends, patient length of stay, delayed transfers of care, utilisation of the discharge lounge, utilisation of virtual ward, criteria to admit and practice related issues within Acute Medicine
- Ensure timely specialty review and onward transfer of patients from ED to the patient's selected specialty. Escalating any delays to the Women's & Children's and Surgery, Anaesthetics and Critical Care (SACC) Divisional leads. Inc Support Services

Education and Qualifications
* Masters degree level education or equivalent professional qualification or experience
* Evidence of a commitment to continuous professional development
* Evidence of effective people management
* Evidence of monitoring and participating in projects
Specialist knowledge, skills and experience
* Advanced IT skills and ability to manipulate data
* Knowledge of NHS business and financial systems and processes
* Comprehensive knowledge of current best practice and health policy requirements
* Ability to manage a range of staff groups to deliver objectives and targets
* Ability to monitor complex change projects
* Knowledge of quality improvement tools and methodology
