We’re looking for a Data Science and AI Manager to join our new Analytics team at AXA Commercial. You’ll play a crucial part in leveraging data, analytics, and AI to provide value to our customers and AXA Commercial. Your responsibilities will include driving advancements in AI, utilising internal technology capabilities, developing AI solutions, and leading the integration of Generative AI into our customer journeys, internal processes, and analytics models. You’ll collaborate with a team of passionate Data Scientists, Analysts, and Engineers who are dedicated to utilising Azure Data Bricks architecture to extract insights and create value across various areas of the analytics landscape.
As part of the team, you’ll have the opportunity to explore diverse data sources, work on different use cases and products, and lead the delivery of end-to-end data science and AI projects. You’ll identify opportunities, design solutions, implement them within our delivery framework, and effectively communicate the results to stakeholders to support decision-making. Additionally, you’ll be encouraged to innovate, deliver efficiently, navigate the internal structures of a large organisation, and maintain transparent and effective communication.
At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least 40% of your week away from home, moving to the majority of your working week from September 2025. Away from home means either attendance at one of our office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events.
What you’ll be doing:
* Be a thought leader in both traditional and new Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.
* Proactively share analytics knowledge and train colleagues to be capable of delivery value through advanced techniques, including AI and ML.
* Line and delivery management of team members to deliver valuable analytics and support their development.
* Oversee the effectiveness of the team’s analytics models, including AI & ML models, and develop the team’s ability to apply statistics, data mining and predictive modelling techniques to gain insights, predict behaviours and generate value.
* Provide a work environment and resources that allow individuals and workgroups to perform their tasks efficiently, and encourage transparency, open communication, and high levels of engagement.
* Delivery of analytics models to provide value to AXA customers and the organisation. This includes the design, build, and product ionisation of Generative AI models and products.
* Undertake and support team members in the refinement of requirements, whilst also validating, training and evolving models over time to discover deeper insights, make predictions, or generate recommendations.
* Lead the monitoring and maintenance of productionised models to deliver high-quality, reliable analytics products.
* Stakeholder engagement to keep up to date on AXA, maintain relationships, and develop opportunities to provide value to customers, colleagues, and the business.
What you'll bring:
* Skilled in assessing and providing guidance on the performance of AI and machine learning models, including their effectiveness and the application of various advanced techniques such as statistics, data mining, predictive modelling, generative AI, and more.
* Working experience of investigating business opportunities, developing hypotheses, and leading analytics projects to robust, scientific standards.
* Strong experience in applying AI and machine learning techniques to new and existing problems and datasets as well as assessing whether AI and Machine Learning is likely to provide an effective solution using specialised programming techniques and languages including Python, R, and SQL.
* Familiar in working with Cloud, Storage, and ML tools and technologies such as GCP, Azure, ML services, Databricks, Vector DB, MongoDB.
* Demonstrable understanding of delivering and leading through MLOps and embedding and integrating models into operationalised processes and software.
* Knowledgeable and experienced in productionising analytics products at different scales and in different systems, to a consistently reliable standard.
* Ability to lead a small team of Data Scientists including the management of the team’s operational delivery and capability development.
* Drive to continually develop skills, learn new analytics techniques and technologies, and keep up to date with developments in the analytics landscape.
