Senior Quantity Surveyor
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Quantity Surveyor to manage the commercial aspects of our construction projects. As a mechanical contractor, we deliver a wide range of mechanical services across commercial, industrial, and residential sectors. Mechanical experience is preferred, and candidates with a background in mechanical services or mechanical subcontracting will be at an advantage.
Key Responsibilities :
Oversee all commercial functions across projects including cost control, budgeting, and subcontractor management
Collaborate with project teams to ensure timely, cost-effective project delivery
Identify and mitigate commercial risks while optimising project margins
Review, negotiate, and manage contracts with subcontractors and suppliers
Liaise with the internal aftercare team to ensure subcontractor obligations are met during the defects liability period through to final retention release
Monitor financial performance and produce regular reporting for senior management
Support monthly cost and margin reporting, comparing current spend to original budgets
Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants
Mentor and provide guidance to junior commercial team members
Ensure maximum commercial return is achieved on all projects
Prepare accurate cost/value reconciliations and interim valuations
Finalise accounts with subcontractors to maximise profitability
Advise on unresolved contractual claims
Ensure sub-contract orders are prepared according to company procedures and procurement schedules
Maintain variation control to minimise additional costs
Carry out any other duties as required by management
Candidate Specification:
3–5 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor
Strong knowledge of construction contracts and commercial regulations
Mechanical contracting experience preferred
Excellent negotiation and communication skills
Skilled in cost estimation, budgeting, and financial reporting
Highly organised with strong problem-solving abilities
Able to work independently and as part of a team
RICS membership (desirable but not essential)
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Full clean UK/ROI driving licence and willingness to travel to sites around Greater Dublin
