This is a clinical post within Swansea Bay University Health Board (SBUHB) Community Dental Service (CDS). As a member of the dental team, you will be required to travel to any of the CDS clinics within SBUHB/occasionally Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend as necessary. Be flexible and adaptable to cope with a variety of locations and client groups.
Provide chair side and administration support to clinical staff in fixed clinics, and during domiciliary dental care visits in patient homes including care homes and secure units. Other duties include supporting sedation and GA clinics. Participating in epidemiological surveys and oral health promotion are also part of the core duties.
Main duties of the job
The CDS provides dental care for the following groups of patients, children and adults who:
* Are medically compromised
* Have learning difficulties
* Have mental health problems
* Have special care requirements including physical disabilities
* Experience disproportionate dental anxiety
* Have complex social problems and cannot obtain dental care
* Are in rehabilitation and secure units
* Require the use of a wheelchair platform or bariatric services
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* NVQ 3 or equivalent training plus experience to diploma level or equivalent Registered Dental Nurse
* GDC registration
* Further qualifications such as: Oral Health Promotion, Special Care Dentistry, Sedation, Orthodontics, Radiography
Experience
* Experience of working in a Community Dental Service and/or Hospital Dental Service
* Experience of working with GA lists
* Reception and clerical duties
Skills
* Communicate effectively with patients, the Dental Team and other health professionals
* The ability to overcome the barriers of social exclusion
* Duty of confidentiality to patients, carers and colleagues
