Shifts: Mondays and Fridays required including late finishes until 7pm. Required to work flexibly between the hours of 8.00am and 7.00pm to cover annual leave and sickness.

Main duties of the job
The role involves being part of the Patient Services Team, assisting patients by directing them to the appropriate healthcare services or professionals courteously and efficiently. Responsibilities include providing general support to the practice team, creating a positive image for patients and visitors, and handling administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the practice, including clerical support for clinical staff and other team members.

Eve Hill Medical Practice is a well-established busy family medical practice in the heart of Dudley in the Black Country, rated outstanding by CQC in March 2016.
Eve Hill cares for approximately 8,700 patients who often have high levels of deprivation and ill-health, and we have a tradition of excellence in service provision and care for our patients, as well as commitment to giving our patients access to the best service possible.
The practice consists of six GPs, Practice Manager, a nursing team and twelve reception and support staff. We are a training practice for the Black Country Vocational Training Scheme and usually have at least one registrar in training. We also provide placements for final year medical students from the University of Birmingham.
Job responsibilities
This role involves providing efficient reception and administrative support in a healthcare setting. Key responsibilities include:
* Welcoming and assisting patients and visitors with general inquiries, appointments, and procedures.
* Managing phone and email communication, ensuring accurate and prompt message handling.
* Processing appointment requests, repeat prescriptions, and patient online access queries.
* Handling incoming/outgoing mail and maintaining accurate computer records.
* Assisting with patient registration, address changes, and maintaining knowledge of practice protocols.
* Supporting staff with clerical tasks such as data entry, scanning, and correspondence.
* Ensuring reception and common areas are clean, organised, and well-stocked.
* Participating in practice meetings, learning events, and liaising with medical representatives as required.
* Performing additional duties as assigned by management.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths.
* NVQ level 2 qualification or equivalent
* AMSPAR Diploma for Medical Receptionists.
Experience
* Experience of providing good customer service
* Experience working in a team.
* Experience working within general practice or health/social care sector.
* Experience working in a call centre environment.
* Experience in using EMIS Web.
Skills and Attributes
* Ability to communicate with patients, relatives and health professionals face-to-face, over the telephone and written.
* Strong computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Word and email systems.
* Able to learn new computer packages and programmes quickly.
* Ability to relate to people and build effective working relationships within and across teams
