Emerging Market Debt Trader
We are seeking to hire an Emerging Market Debt Trader to execute orders from Portfolio managers and Analysts across our EMEA book of business, including cash and derivatives in local and external markets. This is an execution-focused role with significant opportunities to add value to client portfolios through collaboration with Portfolio Managers and Analysts.
This position is based in London at our offices located at Cardinal Place, 80 Victoria Street. The trader will work collaboratively with our global trading teams in Boston, London, and Hong Kong.
Our trading philosophy emphasizes seeking best execution, contributing to portfolio alpha, and managing regulatory, operational, liquidity, and investment risks. We aim to execute orders in line with these principles and our policies, which focus on fair dissemination, aggregation, and allocation of investment opportunities across our platform.
Wellington Management's Trading Department employs over 60 traders worldwide, organized into specialized teams by sectors and products. Our activities are supported by an industry-leading internally developed technology platform and an in-house team of Managers, Quantitative, and Business Analysts who oversee trading operations and provide insights.
Responsibilities
* Executing EMD transactions using high-touch and low-touch methods for all relevant accounts;
* Ensuring order execution aligns with our best practices and policies;
* Gathering and analyzing market, sector, and security information to identify investment opportunities;
* Developing a deep understanding of the investment philosophies of our Portfolio Managers, Strategists, and Analysts;
* Soliciting trade interest from Portfolio Managers and identifying liquidity opportunities;
* Staying informed of new product developments;
* Building and leveraging trading relationships;
* Monitoring and enhancing trading efficiency while mitigating risks.
Qualifications
* Strong academic credentials; an undergraduate degree is required, with a Masters or CFA preferred;
* At least 3 years of relevant trading experience, with experience across a range of instruments being advantageous;
* Ability to work quickly and accurately in a dynamic environment;
* High accuracy and attention to detail;
* Strong teamwork, organizational, and communication skills;
* Proactive mindset with continuous process improvement focus;
* Impeccable integrity and fiduciary responsibility;
* Strong quantitative skills, programming experience is a plus;
* Pro-technology mindset and ability to leverage technology;
* Excellent interpersonal skills and collaborative approach.
