How you’ll support us on our mission to keep people safe and warm… Regulatory and Compliance Advise and lead from a legal perspective on all aspects of regulatory compliance, including obligations under the Gas Act 1986, energy codes, and related legislation. Support engagement with regulatory bodies such as Ofgem, providing and/or co-ordinating advice on licence conditions, price controls, and other regulatory frameworks. Lead legal aspects of regulatory submissions, consultations, and compliance monitoring. Corporate, Financing and Transactions Advise on financing arrangements, including debt facilities and investment structures. Work closely with external counsel on complex financing and corporate matters. General Legal Support Provide pragmatic legal solutions to a broad range of operational in-house legal issues. Act as a trusted advisor to senior management, providing strategic input on legal and business risks. Manage external legal advisors to ensure quality, cost-efficiency, and alignment with business objectives. Essential UK-qualified solicitor with a minimum of 8 years’ post-qualification experience (PQE), ideally in-house experience in a regulated industry. Strong expertise in regulatory law, ideally with specific experience in energy or utilities sectors. Proven experience in corporate law, including financing arrangements and commercial contracts Excellent analytical, negotiation, and drafting skills. Ability to manage a diverse and demanding workload in a fast-paced environment. Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal issues to non-specialists. Desirable Knowledge of the gas distribution network operations or broader energy markets. Previous experience managing or mentoring legal professionals.
