Location: Based at Civic Centre, Huddersfield
One Adoption is a Regional Adoption Agency, a shared adoption service across the 5 local authorities in West Yorkshire. We are seeking an adoption support social worker to work with adoptive families primarily from the Kirklees and Calderdale areas and based in the Huddersfield office.
One Adoption West Yorkshire is ‘hosted’ by Leeds City Council and as such the successful candidate will be employed by Leeds.

Introduction to One Adoption West Yorkshire
One Adoption West Yorkshire prides itself in providing a high-quality adoption service that is timely, flexible and responsive. The stated aims of the agency are to move children into their adoptive family without delay; that families get help and support at every stage of the adoption journey; children have good quality care, a sense of belonging and stability within their adoptive family; children, adoptive and birth parents as well as adopted adults are listened to and have an influence in decision that affect them and service development.
We will provide good supervision and membership of a supportive team and service, with good opportunities for professional development.
Your Role
The role involves providing an adoption support service to a manageable caseload of adoptive families and children as well as young adult adoptees. There will also be opportunities to work with birth family members. You will have opportunity to become involved in group work with parents, alongside other colleagues and/or be involved in particular areas of service development work.
What You Will Bring to the Role
You will have excellent communication and written skills as well as being a team player. You will be motivated and a critical thinker with the ability to understand the needs of and work collaboratively with families and other ‘stakeholders’ within the area of adoption.
You will have a recognised social work qualification (SW Degree, DipSW, CQSW etc.) and be registered with Social Work England (SWE). The post is open to social workers and senior social workers; however, you will need to demonstrate that you have successfully passed a progression process in order to be appointed at Senior Social Worker level.
