About the role We have a fantastic opportunity for an Accountant to join our Business Service Centre in Caerphilly, to work closely with several UK sites and support the delivery of a World Class accounting service to respective UK businesses. Within this role in accordance with service level agreements, you will perform general accounting and reporting activities on behalf of the respective businesses in accordance with Group Accounting Policies and requirements. And identifying improvements to the efficiency and effectiveness of the services provided. The position will require an understanding of business process at each stage and will require interaction with the P2P and C&C departments within the SSC, to ensure that all process are understood and supported. Other responsibilities will include: Provide appropriate and timely financial reports covering various metrics as required by site management, including monthly management accounts and variance analysis Support Group and Divisional reporting requirements Provide routine and ad-hoc analysis as requested by site operations, Finance Business Partners, Division and Group Finance Processing of standard and non-standard journals Setting up recurring and reversing/accrual journals Managing journal templates Ensure that all general ledger accounts are reconciled on a timely basis Analyse and resolve any un-reconcilable items on a timely basis Ensure activities are completed on timely basis to meet reporting deadlines Identify areas of improvement to facilitate a smarter close process Support other team members in achieving the agreed service level agreements for each business Work with other SSC teams to ensure through processes are working as desired Provide support in ad-hoc activities for Senior Accountants and the Head of Finance Support & Reporting About you Knowledge of SAP or a similar ERP system Experience of management/financial accounting and reporting Experience preparing monthly reports and analysis Meticulous attention to detail, producing high quality work, whilst working to tight deadlines Able to work independently, communicate well and adapt your approach to various problems Strong Microsoft Office skills (particularly Excel and PowerPoint) Benefits Competitive salary Discretionary bonus Study support Banked hours 25 days holiday plus bank holidays Pension scheme, life assurance and income protection Employee assistance programme Digital GP and health checks Cycle to work scheme Shopping discounts Location: Caerphilly - we operate on a hybrid basis, with 3 days in the office and 2 at home About us We're DS Smith, the company who are redefining packaging for a changing world.
