Description
Legal Counsel - 8 Month FTC
London - Hybrid (2 days a week in the office)
About Us:
At RVU we combine the close-knit and agile environment of a startup, with the know-how, technology and backing of a well-established company. Our mission is to empower people to make confident decisions. With our unique set of brands, including Uswitch, Confused.com, Tempcover, Money.co.uk and Mojo, we have the power to reach millions of consumers and the technology to deliver a world class online experience for them.
You’ll have an interest in a varied commercial legal workload, with strong drafting and negotiating skills, and the ability to apply them independently to drive the business forward and create real value. Outside of daily contracting, you’ll have a focus on developing and maintaining the legal processes, policies and precedents that underpin our business.
What you'll be doing
1. Working with our business teams to draft, negotiate and execute commercial agreements, whilst proactively maintaining and improving the processes that underpin them.
2. Providing day-to-day legal perspective and guidance, as well as risk assessment and mitigation.
3. Advising our business teams on compliance with data protection and e-privacy laws.
4. Assisting with acquisitions and corporate integration projects.
5. Helping to establish and manage a framework of policies and guidance to manage legal and commercial issues within our business.
What we're looking for
Essentials:
* At least 4 years’ post-qualification experience in-house or at a commercial or corporate law firm with experience providing full service commercial legal support (the reference to PQE is a guide only. We welcome applications from candidates with more or less PQE).
* An experience and appreciation of the challenges and requirements of delivering legal support in a fast moving commercial in-house team.
* Qualified to practice as a solicitor in England and Wales (or another common law jurisdiction).
* Proven technical ability to draft and negotiate complex commercial agreements to tight timescales.
* Experience of advising on IT, data protection/e-privacy laws as well as corporate law.
Desirables:
* Knowledge of intellectual property and competition law.
* Experience of developing and training junior lawyers.
* Regulated sector experience.
* Knowledge of company secretarial matters.
You don’t need to tick off everything on this list - so don’t let that hold you back from applying. We want to make sure you’re learning plenty during your time with us!
What we offer
We want to give you a great work environment, support your growth both personally and professionally, and provide benefits that make your time at RVU even more enjoyable. Here are some of the benefits you can look forward to:
* A hybrid working approach with 2 in-office days per week and up to 22 working days per year to “work from anywhere” (pro-rata).

* Private medical cover, critical illness cover, dental plans and employee assistance programme.
* Employee discounts programme.
* A healthy learning and training budget.
* Electric vehicle and cycle to work schemes.
* Free in-office gym, accessible 7 days a week.
* Free breakfast in the office daily.
* You’ll be equipped with great technology (choice of Mac or Windows).
