About the role
A specialism within resistant materials is preferable however all applications from qualified Design Technology teachers are welcomed.
The main purpose of the role is to ensure that all students in within your form and teaching groups have the best opportunities to achieve to their maximum potential. To achieve this purpose the successful candidate will be joining a well-equipped Design Technology department that consists of purpose-built workshops that specialise in wood, metal, electronics, and multi-materials. In addition to workshops there is also access to a computer suite with a range of CAD programs and CAM equipment.
The department is staffed by the Head of Design Technology, 3 design technology teachers and supported by a full-time design technology technician.
Responsibilities of the role include:
1. Plan and prepare lessons in line with subject schemes of work, using appropriate teaching methods and resources
2. Collaborate with the department and contribute to the development of Schemes of Work and department policies
3. Set high expectations for students’ behaviour, establishing, and maintaining a good standard of discipline
4. Assess and record each student’s progress through observation, questioning, testing, and marking
5. Take part in activities such as Parents’ evenings, Review Days, Open Evenings, Department meetings, staff meetings and other meetings/events as required

Requirements include:
6. Teaching qualification with QTS / QTLS
7. Relevant experience teaching Design Technology
8. Good knowledge of the national curriculum within Design Technology
9. Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues
10. Strong organisational skills
