We have a vacancy for a HCA to join our theatre teams. There will be a rotation to multiple specialities as part of a bespoke staff development programme.
The department has 8 ultra-modern theatres, including 2 Orthopaedic Barn style theatres and 2 integrated ‘Laparoscopic’ theatres. We also have 4 day case theatres and a Surgical Admissions unit on site.
The Theatre Management team are passionate about providing support and cultivating a safe and friendly environment for both staff and patients.
We work in teams by speciality including Breast/Gynaecology/Ophthalmology, General & Emergency Surgery, Urology and ENT, Anaesthetics, Recovery and Orthopaedics /Trauma. Each team has senior staff who support their team by providing duty rosters, annual leave allocation and training within the team. This allows staff members a more personal working experience and helps improve job satisfaction.

Monday th December - Assessment Centre and Interviews will be held at Infinity House (if you are shortlisted for this role) you will need to be available to attend in person on this date. No remote/teams assessments or interviews will be available due to the face-to-face nature of the role.
Main duties of the job
HCAs carry out multiple duties in order to promote excellent patient care. Examples are ; patient support pre operatively, supporting scrub staff during surgical procedures, ensuring equipment and supplies are available for the operating list, transferring patients between locations and other duties to support the department.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. Participate in the delivery of patient care, following agreed plans, policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines, carrying out tasks and activities under the direction of a qualified practitioner
2. Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team/agencies to ensure that patient needs are met
3. Involve patients, relatives/carers in the delivery of care, providing reassurance and support to assist their understanding and co-operation
4. Support patients undergoing local anaesthetic/sedation procedures and during induction of anaesthesia in conjunction with the qualified practitioner
5. Prepare the clinical area for safe practice by ensuring that cleanliness is maintained, materials and equipment are ready for use, including clearing away afterwards
6. Transfer patients to and from theatre to support the efficient use of theatre time
7. Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations
8. Provide routine information to enable the effectiveness of care to be evaluated and records maintained
9. Contribute to the recording and storing of information, ensuring it is securely held, accurate, complete and legible and can be retrieved promptly when required
