Kingdom Recruitment, acting as an employment agency, is currently recruiting for a Plant Operative for our well-established Waste Management client based in Darwen.

About The Role
Location: Darwen Transfer Station
Salary: £12.24 per hour
Working Hours: 47.5 hours per week
Shift Pattern: Over 7 days, including weekend working
What Will I Be Doing?
You will carry out the operation of loading shovels, FLT & tele-handlers across the site, loading a variety of different types of vehicles such as curtain-sided vehicles, shipping containers, and bulk haulage walking floors.
This will involve:
1. Overseeing and ensuring safe and efficient operation and use of fixed machinery, such as bailing machines.
2. Completing pre-operational safety and operator checks.
3. Completing daily checks and maintenance of mobile plant, Fixed Plant, and equipment used at the facility.
4. Ensuring that all deliveries of waste follow the site licence and completing any associated paperwork.
5. Carrying out inspections on incoming product(s) in line with the site Waste Acceptance Criteria and reporting any non-compliant loads.
6. Directing customer vehicles to the various disposal areas and assisting them with off-loading as required.
7. Ensuring compliance with all material export requirements such as photos, paperwork, and container seals.
8. Assisting Sampling Operatives with the collection of output samples.
9. Complying fully with all company and local procedures.
10. Ensuring the site is always kept clean and tidy.
11. Assisting Production staff with their duties during end of shift clean-ups and plant downtime.
12. Contributing to lean and 5S activities across the site to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workplace.
13. Working as part of a team to maintain an efficient and cost-effective operation.
14. Any other duties that are reasonably requested within the scope of the job role.
What Are The Requirements?
1. We are ideally seeking an experienced plant operator who holds the relevant CITB/CPCS/NPORS certification or equivalent; however, for the right candidate, training can be given.
2. An enthusiastic team player who will be expected to join the current site team to ensure site operations exceed the standards.
3. A flexible approach to work is advantageous as you will be expected to cover holiday and sick days if required.
4. A safety-conscious approach with the desire to develop & embrace change to promote continuous improvement.
5. Previous experience within the waste industry or other high-volume production processes is an advantage, but not a necessity.
