About The Role
This role will see you leading a team of protection and controls engineers providing project engineering and technical support in the delivery of transmission substations and lines projects. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Reviewing technical requirements on each scope/project including project constraints and deliverables, seeking clarification where required and ensuring secondary engineering discipline requirements are coordinated with other disciplines.
2. Ensuring the team develops scopes and specifications for designs and manages and reviews the production of all documentation/project deliverables by Design Delivery Partners.
3. Reviewing and assessing brownfield and greenfield electricity substation designs, providing technical input into staging, constructability, operability, maintainability and safety.
4. Applying protection and control technical engineering knowledge to ensure efficient solutions can be reached by the team on complex design projects.
5. Proactively engage with and provide protection and control technical engineering advice to team and broader department based on sound experience.
6. Management of budget and forecast within guidelines.
7. Lead, coach and mentor personnel within the team and share knowledge and develop the team's experience and expertise.
8. Developing and maintaining strong relationships with key internal stakeholders.
9. Contributing to the project development of scopes and estimates for Transmission substation projects led by a Project Development team to ensure cost-effective and constructible business cases can be delivered.
About You
You don’t need to tick every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:
1. A tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering.
2. Deep technical knowledge and experience in the field of secondary engineering, particularly protection and control of substations and transmission lines.
3. Extensive experience working in electricity substations engineering, project delivery and/or design role.
4. Understanding current and emerging network and non-network solutions required to reduce network demand and avoid/deferred network investment.
5. Advanced commercial acumen, stakeholder engagement and understanding of network constraints to identify appropriate solutions to address the needs of the network and customers.
6. Ability to lead a successful engineering team and ability to develop, coach, mentor, empower and support colleagues and team members to achieve common goals.
7. Detailed understanding of project lifecycles and application of engineering principles with extensive design and construction knowledge covering performance, functionality, operation, maintenance and risks.
8. Proven capability in development of concepts and/or delivery of designs.
