Location: Greater Manchester

Are you a skilled Maintenance Engineer with a mix of mechanical and electrical expertise? This is an opportunity to be working for an established bakery supplying some of the UKs key players in the supermarket industry. They are looking for someone to join them as they continue their impressive growth. They’ve doubled their turnover in the last 12 months and are set to double again soon!
You will be supporting the business in what can only be described a pivotal point in their journey as they grow; handling upgrades, PPMs, and reactive work, all while keeping up with the demands of their rapid expansion.
What You’ll Be Doing:
You’ll be solely responsible for maintaining and upgrading machinery across two production lines: bread and sweets.
The bread line includes conveyors, proofers, ovens, and packaging machines, with significant project work required on automating processes for more efficiency.
The sweet line, which produces pastries and cookies, is more manual but with big plans to automate this area.
You’ll work on-site projects and handle both electrical and mechanical maintenance, ensuring smooth operations and minimal downtime.
What We’re Looking For:
Electrically biased engineer, with strong mechanical knowledge.
Experience in PPM, reactive maintenance, and project-based upgrades.
A self-starter that is comfortable with lone working who can suggest improvements, manage legacy issues, and tackle automation projects.
Ideally, you’ll have experience working with a variety of production machinery including conveyors, ovens, flow wrappers, band sealers, date coders, and cooling systems.
Key Machinery You’ll Work On:
Bread Line: Sheeting machines, hoppers, proofers, travelling ovens, incline conveyors, and cooling belts.
Sweet Line: Rack ovens, flow wrap and shrink wrap machines, pastry machines, and manual packing lines.
A major upcoming project involves automating the sweet production line, so experience with automation projects would be a huge plus!
Work Schedule:
Production runs Monday to Friday.
Flexible shift options available to suit your schedule. Manufacturing runs from 5:30am to 1:30pm, with packaging from 7:30am to 3:30pm. There's room to shape your hours around the work, with evening shifts possible if that suits you.
