GXO is currently seeking a talented and driven individual for the role of Transport Manager, to work across our busy Shared User site in Sherburn – In – Elmet. You will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective running of the transport operation.
The role is being offered on a full-time, permanent basis. You will work Monday to Friday, 09:00-17:00, although some flexibility may be required during peak times – this is logistics after all!

What you’ll do on a typical day:
* Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments, taking appropriate measures to mitigate risks and maintain a safe working environment
* Stay current on transportation laws, regulations, and industry standards to ensure compliance and mitigate potential risks
* Develop and implement processes and controls to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements
* Manage the site budget to ensure all costs are closely managed and, where possible, overachieve budget expectations (agency spend, accident damage, etc)
* Manage staffing levels and utilisation, recruitment of permanent and agency staff, allocation of duties/rotas, holidays and communications
What you need to succeed at GXO:
* Proven experience in a leadership role within the transportation or logistics industry
* Experience in safety leadership, with the ability to promote a culture of safety, implementing effective safety protocols, and fostering continuous improvement in safety practices across transport operations
* Strong knowledge of transportation operations, safety regulations, and legal compliance. IOSH (essential), International CPC desirable
* Proficient in financial analysis, budgeting, and cost management to optimise transportation spend and achieve financial targets
