Hills Waste Solutions have an opportunity available for a n Operations Manager to join our existing team based at our Mechanical Biological Treatment Facility (MBT) in Westbury. About the role: As our Operations Manager you will be responsible for managing and controlling the safe and efficient operation of our MBT Facility. You will be responsible for the management of production, maintenance and support staff, as well as ensuring that operations remain compliant with legislation and contractual obligations. Your key responsibilities as our Operations Manager will include: Ensuring the company’s compliance with site licence conditions and to ensure the company’s compliance with relevant legislation. Ensure the agreed productivity and profitability targets are met as determined by the MBT Plant Manager, prepare monthly reports on site performance and manage the operational budgets for the site, as well as assist in the preparation of budgets. Making sure that all operations take place in a safe manner, in accordance with health and safety legislation and that all staff employed on the sites are aware of all applicable documents and procedures, operating in accordance with them. To motivate the workforce and maintain high morale, provide regular training and maintain these records, as well as making recommendations on possible improvements to working methods which would result in cost savings or improvements to site performance, as well as ensuring that sufficient resources are available to enable the efficient operation of the facility. Maintain a high quality of service to the company’s customers. To assist in the preparation of risk assessment documentation and safe systems of work in relation to existing and new practices on sites, keeping under review all available health and safety documentation and propose improvements where necessary. What we’re looking for in our Operations Manager: Experience in a similar role in the waste industry. Experience of managing people in the safe and efficient performance of their duties. Experience of running complex automated process or production facilities. Knowledge of relevant health and safety policies and procedures. Experience of managing team performance and training. A track record of working to KPI’s and delivering continuous improvement. Strong organisational and problem-solving skills. Excellent people and communication skills – motivating, supportive & developmental skills to ensure a genuine team ethos. IT literate and previous experience of using Microsoft office. Holds a relevant WAMITAB Certificate of Technical Competence.
