We’re looking for an experienced, highly organised and enthusiastic Senior Officer to join our vibrant and demanding Internal Communications Team within Corporate Affairs, based in our Head Office in Tolworth. Reporting to the Internal Communications Team Manager and working alongside and guiding the Internal Communications Administrator, deputising for both when needed. As an Internal Communications Senior Officer, you’ll advise senior stakeholders and play a pivotal role within a small team that has a big impact on 34,000 colleagues across Lidl GB. As Lidl GB’s growth continues, our department is also evolving and getting busier by the day and this role is a brilliant opportunity for you to combine your experience within in Internal Communications and a passion for retail. You’ll support the design, planning and delivery of Lidl GB’s Internal Communications strategy including our annual content plan, key business announcements and news, alongside day-to-day communications. You’ll thrive in this highly collaborative and dynamic team, giving you the opportunity to work on a variety of projects and with colleagues across the business, including our Board of Directors. As a trusted advisor with a proven track record in internal communications, you’ll take the lead on multiple communication plans to support our key strategic goals, ensuring our colleagues are informed, engaged, and proud to work for Lidl. You’ll also look after and develop our internal communication channels such as our Town Hall, colleague intranet, mobile app, social feed, and other bespoke channels, exploring opportunities to take them to the next level. Working with the Internal Communications Administrator, you’ll also influence and develop effective ways of working and toolkits for the team and our stakeholders. What you'll do • Play a leading role in the development and delivery of Lidl GB’s Internal Communications strategy, including leadership communication, supporting the Internal Communications Manager. • Collaborate and provide expert counsel on internal communications, guiding and supporting stakeholders at all levels, including Board level. • Lead the planning and production of consistent, engaging and impactful content on our channels, ensuring it’s aligned to our wider business and Corporate Affairs Team strategy. • Develop our existing channels whilst exploring new ones, including our SharePoint intranet, colleague app, Town Hall and digital screens. • Develop our reporting mechanisms to share with the business and ensure our recommendations are data driven. • Provide direction, support the team, and research new methods to develop our ways of working and processes to help us reach the highest standards. • Support with the design, logistics and content for leadership events e.g. Town Hall. • Work closely with the Corporate Comms team, Engagement team and Employer Brand to deliver joined up impactful content. • Deputise for the Internal Communications Manager and support the Administrator and wider team. • Stay on top of new developments within internal communication, both internally and externally, and share ideas and recommendations. What you'll need • At least 3 years’ experience within internal communications. • A strong understanding of strategic communications - able to see the bigger picture and longer-term vision, whilst joining the dots on a daily basis. • Experience of working with retailers or big brands, and an understanding and knowledge of the retail sector and Lidl’s role within it. • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong project and time management skills, and comfortable working on several projects, campaigns, or events at once, often with tight or moving deadlines and priorities. • Exceptional creative writing skills with a meticulous eye for detail and consistent approach to brand guidelines and tone of voice. • To be a trusted advisor who acts with integrity and discretion and puts colleagues and the business at the heart of what we do. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with internal and external stakeholders of all levels. • Experience designing, managing, and developing internal communications channels such as events, intranets, podcasts, apps. • Strong IT and communication design skills with experience using PPT, InDesign and Adobe Photoshop and Canva. Video production experience is advantageous. • Be curious, open minded and willing to embrace the art of the possible by driving continuous improvements and sustainable change. • Comfortable dealing with multiple requests and large volumes of information and details, often at pace or with moving elements. • Be flexible, proactive, hands-on and unflappable in high pressure situations. • Have a dedicated work ethic, willing to work outside of normal working hours (on occasion), to deal with deadlines or issues that arise. • Be a positive role model for the Internal Communications Administrator and wider Corporate Affairs Team. • Able to gather and review metrics, feedback, and trends to produce reporting for Internal Communications and encourage data driven decisions.
