Why This Role Matters
The Valuations Coordinator will provide administrative support to Estates, Appraisals & Valuations Account Managers, assisting with the facilitation and execution of cross-category valuations, sale proposals, and consignments. In addition, this position will help within the larger Estates, Appraisals & Valuations department as a whole, sharing general responsibilities with other Coordinators such as fielding general department inquiries and working autonomously on smaller valuations where suitable and as assigned by senior colleagues.
The successful candidate should have a genuine interest in valuations, excellent attention to detail, and a keen interest in art history. This role will require strong time management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
How You'll Make an Impact
(Duties include but are not limited to the following)
Valuation Production/Account Manager support:
* Work closely with Account Managers on specific valuation projects, including planning, travel schedules, research, typing, archiving, and final checks.
* Where suitable and with approval from the Account Manager and Business Manager, undertake smaller valuations, managing the process and reporting back to the relevant colleagues at relevant stages of the project.
* Coordinating typing, correcting, and proofing valuation documents from both manuscript and audiotape, taking responsibility for the final work before it is handed to the Account Managers ensuring final administrative proofing and minor corrections.
* Coordinating printing and binding of valuations, organising sign-off for single figure valuations.
* Cross-referencing valuation and client information between documents.
* Type and proof valuations in European languages where necessary.
* Assist with uploading digital voice files and photographs when Valuers/Account Managers return from valuation visits.
* Preparing Valuation Briefs, Letters of Engagement, Consignment Agreements, Schedules of Property for sale, and other related paperwork.
* Organise and where required oversee the removal of client property, including shipping, export, import, and warehousing.
* Oversee pre and post-sale care including sale tracking and assist Account Managers with multi-department consignments.
What you’ll bring to the team
* Educated to degree level or equivalent work experience.
* Strong relationship and in-depth knowledge of international auction houses preferred.
* Highly organised with proven ability to multitask and work under pressure.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including superior written and spoken communication.
* Flexible team player with initiative.
* Strong follow-up skills and exceptional attention to detail.
* Proven ability to work independently with minor supervision.
* Proficient computer skills, knowledge of Christie’s internal systems helpful (CAMS, COS, JDE).
* Knowledge of at least one European language preferred.
