We are looking for a Community Engagement Assistant to join our team on a fixed term, part time basis, working 21.6 hours per week.

Whether you're just starting out or exploring a new direction, this role offers a chance to gain hands-on experience while being part of an exciting project that brings history and nature together. You'll collaborate with a dynamic team, including Community Organisers from Kent Wildlife Trust, Engagement Managers from the White Cliffs Countryside Partnership, and English Heritage colleagues, as well as freelancers and community organisations. It's a chance to learn, grow, and make a real difference by helping connect local communities to the incredible history and natural beauty of Dover's chalk grasslands.
As our Community Engagement Assistant, you will help plan, deliver, and evaluate activities that connect local communities with the natural and built heritage of the Western Heights and chalk grasslands in Dover.
You will work closely with partner organisations and the local community to support the delivery of the Reaching Greater Heights project engagement plan, contributing to co-creation projects and events that bring the story of the chalk grasslands to life. You will also play a key role in gathering and analysing feedback to ensure activities are impactful and inclusive.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for the role of Community Engagement Assistant, you will need:
1. Some experience in public-facing roles (paid or voluntary) that demonstrate transferable skills, particularly engaging and communicating with people.
2. Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt your approach to suit different audiences.
3. The ability to work well with others across projects and teams, planning and staying organised to meet goals.
4. A friendly, professional attitude with enthusiasm for developing a career in community engagement.
5. Confidence (with support) to engage positively with challenging opinions and build skills in public speaking.
