Introduction
Hathaways Law is a well-established, respected, and progressive law firm with offices in Gateshead and Low Fell. We are looking for a Conveyancer to operate from the firm’s Low Fell office to perform an integral fee-earning role within our busy Residential Property Department, providing first-class customer service to our clients and/or third parties.
Minimum Requirements
* Experience of handling a case load with minimum supervision;
* Competent in freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, re-mortgages, and transfers of equity;
* A good networker who is keen to be involved in business development;
* Thorough knowledge of residential conveyancing processes and associated law;
* Excellent client care, time management, and organisational skills;
* Excellent IT skills and proficient in the use of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) CMS;
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
* Excellent interpersonal skills;
* Excellent telephone manner;
* Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to prioritise and use initiative;
* The ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines;
* Excellent attention to detail;
* Good team player;
* The ability to handle a case load of 80 files;
* Experience in post completion;
* Experience in new builds and shared ownership;
* Experience of Leap would be advantageous;
* 5+ PQE working in a conveyancing role;
* Qualified Solicitor, Legal Exec, or Licensed Conveyancer.
Tasks and Responsibilities
* To manage and run a varied residential property caseload, including new build purchases;
* Dealing with Help to Buy Mortgages and ISA’s;
* Dealing with file-related queries either face to face or by telephone;
* Processing property matters on a timely and cost-effective basis;
* Proactive and effective maintenance and management of files;
* To ensure that clients are dealt with efficiently and politely;
* To attend to clients, taking instructions, and conducting letter and telephone enquiries as necessary;
* To use the correct Practice procedures and systems to manage cases effectively;
* To improve and enhance the firm’s client base by effective liaison with existing clients and introducers;
* To maximize the firm’s potential to cross-sell services;
* To manage own work allocation, productivity, and quality of work with minimum supervision;
* To ensure our clients and third-party referrers receive the best possible service;
* To adhere to the policies, procedures, and protocols within the Quality Procedures Manual;
* To promote and embrace Equality and Diversity across the firm.
Key Responsibilities
* Processing post daily and in a timely manner;
* Verifying client identification in accordance with the firm’s Money Laundering Policy;
* Ensuring all telephone calls are returned within 2 hours wherever possible;
* Ensuring all emails are responded to within 24 hours;
* To run and manage a varied caseload.
