We’re looking a Communications Officer to join our team of dedicated communications professionals covering maternity leave from May 2025 until December 2025. Working closely with the Head of Internal Communications, you will be an excellent communicator with experience in creating and generating content for a range of channels, including video and photography, you will assist in the delivery of an effective University-wide programme of internal communications and events, designed to engender a sense of community across the institution and to a wider audience. Familiarity with social media, and supervised content delivery including the creation, editing and posting of video content for use internally, externally and on social media. Supporting the teams with content, publication and monitoring and evaluation. Providing administrative support and monitoring various mail accounts for the team to maintain networks, forums and communication channels Act as team liaison and support for intranet queries; monitor enquiries and prepare responses, where necessary in consultation with appropriate colleagues. Provide effective administrative support for events including webinars, Town Halls, and internal success events including practical arrangements such as room booking and catering arrangements, pulling invitation lists together, monitoring responses, and evaluation of events Gathering material such as video and photos at an event or other occasion to support our communications To establish and maintain effective working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders. To undertake any other duties as appropriate to the level of the post as determined, including some out of hours work if necessary. The Person Knowledge, Skills and Experience Excellent written skills, including a command of spelling, punctuation and grammar and attention to detail Experience of or willingness to learn web/intranet platforms Excellent organisation and time management skills Friendly demeanour and outstanding team working skills IT skills, or willingness to learn including MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, adobe Confidence and professionalism in personal interactions and able to establish and maintain good working relationships with colleagues Experience in sourcing and collating information An ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with a wide range of audiences A willingness to work flexibly across a variety of routine and high-level tasks Attributes and Behaviour This role involves liaison with internal and external stakeholders, including staff and students.
