Title: Trade Effluent Technician

Location: Telford/Shrewsbury
Role Objective:
• Mitigate risks from trade effluent and unauthorised discharges through effective management and sampling of allocated customers and catchments
• Onsite sample testing and stakeholder management of results
• Effectively manage and coordinate sample plan for the timely collection of data and trade effluent samples to enable control and billing of customers within a geographical area
• Provide front line assistance working with Infra and Non-Infra Waste teams to protect the assets and reputation of Severn Trent, the Environment and Health and Safety of STW personnel, from pollution incidents arising from known Trade Effluent discharges and unknown non-domestic discharges into foul or surface sewer systems
What does it take to be a Trade Effluent Technician?
• Experience of the practical application of environmental legislation relating to networks, trade effluent and customer
• Qualification in a scientific or environmental discipline preferably to degree level
• Practical experience of wastewater pollution prevention and control
• Knowledge of sewerage, sewage treatment and sludge processes
• Basic knowledge and experience of health & safety regulations, and practices
• Qualifications in manual handling would be beneficial
• Working as part of a high performing team
• Experience of working to deadlines
• Competent IT skills
• Track record of delivering high performance
• Effective communication
• Experience in managing customer expectations
• Clean driving licence
• Use of own car
