We are looking to recruit a Chargehand Multi-Skilled Shift Maintenance Technician to undertake a multi-skilled role to carry out maintenance, repairs, and inspection of building, mechanical, and electrical services, associated systems, plant, and equipment in accordance with relevant standards and operational procedures.
The postholder will also assist the Team Leaders in leading the team of multi-skilled trades personnel and technicians.
Main Duties of the Job
The postholder will be expected to carry out both routine and complex maintenance requests in an efficient and effective manner to support the successful delivery of a customer-focused estate maintenance service for the Trust and assist the Team Leaders in the management and supervision of in-house and contract labour to ensure effective maintenance and operation of all buildings, plant, and associated services.

Person Specification
Experience
* Competent in the use of computers including Microsoft Office.
* Previously worked within a maintenance environment.
* Have an understanding of the operational procedures and safe working practices of major items of plant and systems such as:
o Steam raising plant & associated systems
o Steam and condense systems
o Heating and domestic water services
o Ventilation plant and associated systems
o Low voltage electrical distribution system and switchgear
o Emergency standby generating plant
o Fire alarm and detection systems
o Lighting systems (including emergency lighting)
o Lifts
o Nurse call system
* Have an awareness of the operational procedures and safe working practices of major items of plant and systems, such as:
o Gas distribution system
o Sterilisation and decontamination equipment
o Medical gas pipeline system and associated plant
o Diesel Oil systems
o Building Management System (BMS)
o Security System
* Experience must cover engineering and building techniques.
* Experience of direct management of qualified labour force.
* Experienced in risk management, including undertaking audits, risk assessments, method statements, undertaking authorised persons duties, and issuing/managing permit to work systems.
* Knowledge and experience of health & safety.
* Conversant with building regulations, site safety, scaffolding, and working platforms.
Skills
* Ability to work as a team player or on own initiative.
Knowledge
* Ability to formulate solutions to improve performance, selection of suitable equipment and/or parts to repair plant, equipment, and buildings.
* Demonstrate continual professional development and willingness to undertake occupational training courses in order to fulfil and develop the duties of the post.
Qualifications
* Must have completed a recognised electrical or mechanical apprenticeship such as EITB, CITB, or similar, approved apprenticeship scheme.
* City & Guilds - Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
* Must have completed an appropriate multi-skilling course to City & Guilds level or equivalent, or must have appropriate multi-skilling experience.
* Formal training, ideally in an engineering discipline to HNC/HND level, or commensurate level of experience.
* Hold a current driving licence.
