The Visual Content Editor will work closely with the Group Creative Director and Editors to achieve the ‘look and feel’ of each brand within the Homes Hub, working across all the content platforms for Country Living and House Beautiful.
The individual will provide imaginative, knowledgeable and resourceful picture research. Working closely with the brand and CofE teams (video and social), they will also be responsible for co-ordinating shoots on Country Living, including those done on location. This includes overseeing and organising photographers/videographers, crew and the talent associated with each shoot. Ensuring that all assets created adhere to the standards associated with each brand. The role will also be responsible for negotiating all costs associated with the visual requirements for each brand, working within the budgets set by the brand team, and taking responsibility for all admin associated with the role.
Responsibilities
* Attend all relevant brand meetings to discuss requirements and source visual assets across all platforms – editorial and diversified areas eg. CL events/calendar/diary.
* Provide all photographers/agencies/illustrators with a detailed brief (written, and verbal where necessary).
* Co-ordinate shoots from start to finish, i.e., liaise with all relevant parties, book locations, organise transport and call sheets.
* Negotiate the best possible rates with contributors, ensuring that work is delivered on time and on budget.
* Manage all visual budgets associated with both brands, in association with the editorial team.
* Send commissioning forms via the online Concur system and establish copyright.
* Ensure that all picture credits are correct and present on content across all channels.
* Maintain an organised and accessible filing system for all photographic material ensuring that images are tagged and commissioning forms are linked correctly on Censhare.
* Liaise with HMI and international Picture teams to ensure lift targets are met.
* Be an ambassador of Hearst UK and its values.
* Undertake further duties as your skills, qualifications and experience allow and/or as may be assigned to you from time to time.
About You
* Ability to establish and maintain good relations with picture agencies, contributors and own team.
* Experience in liaising with picture agencies to establish the brief and research their libraries.
* Experience in photoshoot production, stills and video.
* Experience working on a Picture desk, including managing budgets.
* Interest and enthusiasm for photography, video and multi-channel visual execution.
* Excellent organisation and administrative skills.
* Calm under pressure, fast worker, multi-tasker.
* Fast learner, team player, approachable and self-motivated.
* Positive, passionate and enthusiastic.
* Clear understanding of Country Living and House Beautiful brand values and aesthetics, with an ability to bring the aesthetic to life creatively.
