As part of this we are looking for a number of people with a strong background in Mechanical Design Engineering to support the following areas:
* Nuclear primary components, including the reactor core
* Secondary propulsion components
* In-service support and maintenance
* Special purpose tools and equipment
* Future product

Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home or another remote location. It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.
What you will be doing:
You will be responsible for the creation of component/assembly/systems designs and associated through-life justification that meet their requirements and product attributes of life, cost, availability, and safety margins.
Additionally, you will:
* Create solutions and justifications that are robust against variation, taking account the full life cycle (concept, design, manufacture, operation, and disposal).
* Integrate cross-discipline engineering concepts which include manufacturing engineering, simulation, materials, testing, and supply chain.
* Document and verify information against sound mechanical engineering practices and references.
* Present evidence at technical reviews in front of peers and expert panels.
* Publish safety and technical reports which are subjected to customer and regulatory scrutiny.
Who we’re looking for:
* Ideally, you will have experience in one of the above disciplines, but this does not need to be limited to Submarines.
* It is preferable that you are Degree Qualified or Apprentice Trained in a relevant engineering discipline, however this is not essential as experience is equally beneficial.
* External Skills/Experience can be from industries such as Civil Nuclear, Marine, Petro-Chemical and Oil & Gas.

To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place. Any dual nationals will require additional scrutiny and background checks prior to commencing work with RRSL.
