About the Role

The key duties & responsibilities of the Marine Construction Manager are:
1. To support the development of the Offshore Directorate Marine Governance from Opportunity Assessment through to Execute (Construction and Commissioning) and, where necessary, lead construction teams in the refinement and execution of large capital projects (subsea cables) across the Transmission (Offshore Delivery) business ensuring the safe delivery to programme, cost and the necessary quality.
2. Provide leadership on site in terms of safety management and best practices, be experienced in accident/incident reporting, and the SSE Large Capital Projects Governance processes for all projects. Lead the project teams in alignment with the SSE Safety Culture and core leadership values, and align with the CDM 2015 regulations.
3. Deliver in alignment to the SHE-Transmission RIIO-T2 Business Plan paying particular attention to the 5 clear goals.
4. Take responsibility for the development, implementation and monitoring of the Marine Governance throughout all the SHE-Transmission projects which contain an offshore element, and support the provision of critical construction personnel within each project.
5. Where necessary, be seconded to a particular project in support of the Construction activities, and to cover site Project Marine Construction Managers for holiday periods on offshore sites or installation vessels.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
1. A strong engineering and marine construction knowledge with extensive experience of personally being accountable for the construction delivery of design, pre-construction activities and offshore installation and landfall activities on large projects, including subsea cable installation (offshore wind), marine and offshore operations.
2. Assist engineering teams with reviewing Constructability during the different stages of the project lifecycle, and have the ability to understand and oversee technical queries and impacts on the project.
3. Work with other developers to identify and support marine construction interfaces.
4. Report weekly to the Senior Offshore Delivery Manager on projects progress, risks, mitigations, costs and programme.
5. Understand or can decipher Industry legislation, Health and Safety Legislation and Company policies and procedures.
