This is a full-time role for a mid/senior Clinical Negligence Solicitor working in-house at Signature Clinic. You will join an established team of lawyers working for a group of high-growth private healthcare providers in the UK. You will report directly to the Head of Legal and alongside an experienced paralegal to deliver best-in-class defence and advisory services to the clinical services and governance teams. This is a full time, hybrid role, with the main office located in Manchester.

Responsibilities
· First line oversight of defending an active clinical / medical malpractice caseload from start to finish (from pre to post action)
· Claims adjusting and handling
· Stakeholder management including externally engaged consultants including surgeons and other medical practitioners, our senior management team, our insurer, external law firms and counsel engagement (including selection, brief preparation, and some potential court attendance)
· Responding to and managing negotiations and ongoing case management with claimant law firms
· Providing bespoke, expert clinical negligence legal advice including evidence gathering, liaison with medical experts and negotiating settlements
· Some general commercial in-house and information governance tasks
· Keeping up to date with changes in personal injury law, vicarious liability and costs regime changes
Qualifications
· Qualified English solicitor, having trained in a top 100 UK firm with a specialism in clinical negligence (whether claimant or defence work)
· Strong work ethic, excellent organisational ability and attention to detail, be able to efficiently analyse matters involving multiple defendants, work independently but alongside a supportive team
· Be able to hit the ground running, taking over an existing caseload including post-issue claims, quantifying potential damages, and advising on settlement prospects and quantum, working knowledge of medical malpractice insurance
· Willing to get stuck in with a range of in-house general legal matters from time to time, including a basic understanding of information governance and commercial contracts work
· Bonus to have an understanding of healthcare regulation in the UK and experience dealing with regulators
