Job summary
We have an excellent opportunity for a highly experienced, motivated, driven and ambitious pharmacist to join the HDFT Pharmacy Team in the new post of Advanced Clinical Pharmacist - Biologics and Homecare. This post has been created as a result of a strong commitment by the Trust to lead on best-value medicines schemes and provide assurance that high cost drugs are used as per their NICE TA commissioning criteria.
This is an opportunity for a pharmacist to combine a clinical non-medical prescribing role in a named specialty together with an operational leadership role in medicines effectiveness across the healthcare economy.
The successful candidate will lead on medicines efficiency opportunities in dermatology, gastroenterology and rheumatology, lead on implementation of new biologics, including best value biosimilars, support the wider medicines efficiency programme trust wide, provide a dedicated specialist clinical pharmacy service to dermatology, gastroenterology and rheumatology, including provision of a NMP clinic in a named specialty and development of medicines pathways and provide specialist input to homecare services.
The post holder will support the Lead Pharmacist - Medicines Effectiveness, Procurement and Homecare and provide increased capacity and resilience to support work of the Trust Medicines and Therapeutics Group and the Humber and North Yorkshire Area Prescribing Committee.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work closely with the clinical specialties and be an active part of speciality quality of care meetings and MDTs. Clinical supervision will be provided by the relevant clinical specialty where the post holder will fulfil a NMP commitment.
The post holder will have line management responsibilities to the Specialist Pharmacy Technician for Homecare. The post holder will need to work closely with clinical pharmacy colleagues.
You should have significant pharmacy practice experience and ideally already be an active non-medical prescriber in either gastroenterology or rheumatology specialty. Other NMP experience will be considered and we are strong believers that skills are transferable and knowledge can be learnt with appropriate educational and clinical supervision.
We are committed to providing a safe and efficient service for our patients and as such we are looking for someone keen to learn and develop with good communication and interpersonal skills, who is able to work across professional boundaries with clinicians and finance managers in the organisation.
We place a high importance on career development and training opportunities and we are keen to meet candidates with a similar desire to progress. This is a unique opportunity and lends itself well for someone who is looking to strengthen their portfolio to pursue a Consultant role in the future or an operational leadership role.
