Introduction to role
Are you a professional engineer with a passion for leadership and innovation? As a recognised authority in one or more technical or project areas, you will provide technical and professional leadership for the Speke Manufacturing Operations engineering function. This role involves mentoring, coaching, and developing employees, with a focus on team development and change management. You will engage at a senior level within the business to provide technical, project, and commercial direction in your area of expertise.
Accountabilities
1. Provide recommendations into the development of engineering approaches and strategy in your specialist area(s), contributing to the overall delivery of the Engineering framework.
2. Manage planning, budgeting, solution development, supplier liaison, and contract management.
3. Act as a technical advisor to senior management team members, developing appropriate engineering delivery solutions that align with local business priorities and objectives.
4. Control and monitor all costs, while ensuring efficient resource use to align with operational plans and budget goals.
5. Act as a point of contact for technical issues that arise. Work collaboratively within the business, building effective and trusted relationships with internal and external partners to support delivery of engineering objectives.
6. Manage ongoing maintenance of contracts for the delivery of core engineering services.
7. Support the business in communicating and enabling change within the business area, with a focus on people, change, and professional development.
Essential Skills/Experience
1. A relevant degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
2. Leadership experience in a manufacturing (ideally GMP), engineering, or R&D environment
3. Full and detailed knowledge of relevant Safety, Health & Environment legislation
4. Capability in developing and implementing business strategy
5. Project and change management skills
6. Leading teams and encouraging growth and adaptation through change
7. A knowledge of lean and/or six sigma methodologies
Desirable Skills/Experience
1. Post-graduate Engineering qualification & professional engineering membership
2. Global experience
This role is site based and you will be expected to be on site in Speke, Liverpool 5 days a week.
