Position: SEND Science Teacher (QTS)
Location: Portsmouth, Hampshire
Salary: £35,000 per annum
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-time 8.30am - 4.00pm / Term Time only (35 weeks)
Manaba are currently recruiting for a specialist Teacher of Science who can support a very small cohort of pupils with SEND in a calm and quiet unit in a lovely, reputable school in central Portsmouth. The position is full-time and to start in the New Year.
Responsibilities for the role of SEND Science Teacher:
* To teach a small cohort of pupils with SEND on a 1:1, 1:2 or small class basis
* To teach Science to pupils with a wide range of Additional Needs in a calm and responsive manner
* Liaise closely with parents, senior leadership and other SEN staff to ensure a high quality and appropriate service is provided for each pupil taught with SEND
* To prepare and update ITPs for individual pupils, in consultation with appropriate teacher(s), SENCo, parents and pupils.
* Update EHCPs for individual pupils and attend annual reviews
* To maintain clear and accurate records
* To teach according to the needs of individual pupils, taking into account the precepts of Multi-Sensory teaching and the requirements of differentiation.
* Liaise with relevant staff and parents to ensure that individuals’ special educational needs are met effectively and that the requirements of EHCPs are met fully.
* Maintain an up to date knowledge of available techniques, resources and developments regarding the teaching of pupils with special needs (including able children) — reviewing as necessary personal teaching methods and programmes.
Essential requirements:
* You must hold a relevant teaching qualificiation, with QTS
* Be a Science specialist and have a an inclusive approach to teaching
* Previous experience of supporting pupils with SEND is desirable, but not essential
* Able to provide at least two satisfactory employment references (including your most recent employer)
* An Enhanced DBS is required
* You must be a commited and passionate teacher with a desire to support pupils with SEND needs
