We welcome applications from enthusiastic and skilful Trainee Educational Psychologists (TEPs) entering their second or third year of doctorate training in September 2025, who have a strong desire to live and work in or around Cheshire West and Chester. We have considerable experience in supporting TEPs to become fully qualified EPs, working in collaboration with several Universities. As a TEP in Cheshire West you will experience a range of activities in a supportive environment, to develop your skills including those relating to assessment, Consultation, project work and training. This post is full-time, incorporating university studies and attendance whilst undertaking all tasks as required of a TEP on placement. Applicants must already be in Year 1 or 2 of a recognised EP professional doctorate training course and be eligible for HCPC registration on completion. Cheshire West and Chester Child & Educational Psychology Service is a team of friendly, supportive, talented psychologists. We offer a partially traded Consultation model of service delivery. As nationally, we are currently experiencing a high demand for statutory work, but remain committed to developing innovative products we can trade for the benefit of our residents. We have well-established ELSA, Group Consultation, and EBSN programmes and are currently developing our Emotion Coaching offer. We are a well-regarded and friendly service. Our evaluations year on year demonstrate that school staff, parents and children and young people value our impact. The CEPS has contributed to a range of strategic developments and initiatives within the wider council, including Our Ways of Working. We are currently developing our EY ELSA offer and Critical Incident support along with colleagues across the wider Children’s Service. Following requests from Headteachers we have expanded our offer to support Children and Young People’s (CYP) learning with regard to executive functioning. Recent traded work with our Virtual School has stimulated demand in this area. We are always keen to further extend our traded offer to support children and young people’s learning, mental health and emotional wellbeing and we would welcome your ideas.
