The European Speciality Tea Association is an inclusive membership based organisation whose mission is to create and inspire excellence in the speciality tea community through innovation, research, education and communication.
With members from over 50 countries representing all parts of the tea supply chain from producers to tea baristas, European Speciality Tea Association is helping to generate a vibrant speciality tea community across the world and is dedicated to promoting great quality tea in all of its forms to create a new sensory excitement amongst tea drinkers.
We are looking to appoint a new executive director to lead the association into its next stage based on our current three year strategic plan, supported by and working with the board of directors, volunteers and members. The position is initially on a voluntary basis but there will be the opportunity for the successful candidate to negotiate their own payment structure at the earliest opportunity.
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION
Objectives of this role
* Work closely with board directors and committees to assess and address issues affecting the organization
* Oversee daily operations of the organization, providing executive direction for programme strategies and efficiencies, compliance, and quality assurance
* Identify and address volunteer and staffing requirements for efficient operations, and maintain a strong work culture that attracts and retains people while driving the organization’s mission and strategic plan
* Increase awareness of the organization by being the main spokesperson and liaison with various media
* Develop an actionable plan for revenue raising and managing monthly cash flow
* Comply with all international and local regulations
Responsibilities
* Create business plans for achieving goals and objectives set in collaboration with board of directors
* Meet realistic annual revenue raising goals, in partnership with board of directors, by securing financial support from members, sponsors, partners, and other funding sources
* Work with staff and board on annual events, and oversee all external communications, including website, marketing collateral, newsletters, and social media
* Serve as the face of the organization and participate in external events to increase visibility, credibility, and market brand, and develop strategic partnerships to further increase community awareness and expand programmes
* Build and lead an effective team that’s dedicated to fulfilling the association’s mission through highly successful programmes, community engagement, and revenue raising
* Manage executive team, members and volunteers whose experiences, cultures, and languages reflect the European and world-wide community served by the association
Required skills and qualifications
* Experience in senior/middle management, preferably with non-profit organizations
* Strong experience in public relations, marketing, and fundraising
* Knowledge of leadership and management principles for nonprofit organizations
* Proven success working with a board of directors
* Entrepreneurial mindset, with innovative approach to business planning
* Ability to think and act strategically
* Dynamic and charismatic team player who enjoys being the public face of an organization
Preferred skills and qualifications
* Experience and knowledge of tea and the tea industry or similar industries
* Experience in managing budgets
* Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills
